And the Nobel Prize for Economics goes to...

...Paul Krugman.

The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences announced the award this morning with this explanatory paper -[pdf]

I got my introduction to the man from my Macroeconomics professor in grad school and I've paid attention to his words since then.

For a flavour of his writings, check out his blog for the New York Times, where he's also a columnist.

A well deserved congratulations goes out to him.

This coming on the heels of the Peace Prize going to Martti Ahtisaari is a well deserved honour to two men who both exemplify the virtues of realism albeit in different fields and ways.
