Making the connection

For the past week, the news cycle in the 2 countries I call home has been dominated by 2 events. In Scotland, it has been the release of Abdel Baset Al-Megrahi, while in Nigeria the central bank's sacking of 5 bank CEOs and the publishing of their debtors names has generated a lot of news ink.

You would have thought both events were as far apart as any could be, but not so Bisi Ojediran. The author and columnist ended his piece in today's ThisDay newspaper with this:

Finally, for the greedy Nigerian billionaires in business and in politics, I want them to remember what they would do with all that money if, like Abdel Baset Al-Megrahi, they were told that they have only three months to live”.

A poignant thought indeed.
